Wandering Alpha came about from two of the most significant success concepts, in our opinion, curiosity and alpha returns.

Curiosity, in our view, is best defined as wandering, as you need to let your mind and interests wander in as many areas as possible to uncover new opportunities, ways of doing things, but most importantly, to practice the mental capacity to minimize rigidity of thought. At the same time, wandering helps anyone understand how some things they thought were right are indeed wrong and should be reevaluated.

 

Alpha refers to the outsized return a company, project, or individual achieves over their market, competitors, or personal bests. Understanding alpha is critical to consistently getting ahead in all walks of life from personal to professional. Likewise, it’s important to note that alpha can only be achieved through wandering. You can’t outcompete any benchmark if you are doing the same thing as everyone else. Similarly, you can only figure out how to do things differently when you open your mind to new/different ways of doing things.
